Hi,
I am the wastewater superintendent for a small city in the northeast of the state of Oregon, USA, Pendleton to be more specific. It happens our plant was built in the 1970's with the expection of bigger things which haven't happened. As such there is way more anaerobic digester capacity than is being used. Current VS reduction is 68-75%. So we are looking at up-grading the mixing in our primary digester and adding grease fines from a rendering plant to boost methane production to generate roughly 200kw of electric energy.
On the other side of things we are looking at using glycerol from biodiesel manufacture to use as a carbon source in the anoxic zone for total nitrogen removal.
The question I have is can glycerol be used as an anaerobic feed also?
Thany you,
Mark Milne
